Celebrating World Wetlands Day

At Birkenhead Park we have three beautiful freshwater lakes: Upper Lake, Lower Lake, and the Figure Eight Lake. These lakes provide an oasis for wildlife amidst urban surroundings.

Edward Kemp Community Garden’s 10th Anniversary

On Wednesday the 30th of March, the Edward Kemp Community Garden had a double celebration. Firstly the 10th birthday of the garden, postponed for a year because of Covid restrictions. The second reason was celebrating a grant from the Duchy of Lancaster.

On 22nd May 2017 School children from our local area are invited to the park to take part in various bio-diversity themed activities, to help raise awareness for the wonderful world around us and preserve it for generations to come.

170 Years Anniversary Cake

Birkenhead Park’s 170th

On Wednesday 5th April 2017, Birkenhead Park celebrated the 170th anniversary of its opening. Luckily for us – the weather was much better than it was all the way back in 1847, when 10,000 people stood in the rain at the gates to the Grand Entrance to be officially welcomed to the World’s First Publicly Funded Park.
