Your Visit to Birkenhead Park

As one of the Wirral’s most visited places, we’d like to make sure you have an enjoyable time at Birkenhead Park. There’s so much to see and do and nearly 140 acres of historic landscape to lose yourself in. The park has something to offer everybody.

It’s worth planning your visit to the People’s Garden in advance. Here’s some information and tips to make the most of your time here.

Opening Times

Birkenhead Park is open to the public all the year round, 24 hours a day. If you need advice, information, or assistance, you can find it at our Visitor Centre on the park Road North side of the park.

The centre is open 7 days a week (apart from a few days during Christmas period), from 9am to 4:30pm. It is here that you can find the park’s café and toilet facilities.

Things to Do

We want you to have a great time with us at Birkenhead Park, and there’s loads for you to do. Enjoy an extensive choice of walks through this historic landscape, taking in the beautiful scenery and splendid Victorian architecture. There are plenty of lovely spots for a family picnic, and for the young ones, you’ll find a play area to work off some steam. If you’re into sports, there’s a lot to choose from – whether as a spectator or player. The park has two cricket clubs, tennis courts, bowling greens and football pitches, not to mention thefishing lakes and our fitness trail. Birkenhead Park Rugby Club is on the edge of the park too. Click here for more details on these and much more.
